Mealy Company Builders
In 1999, Mealy Company Builders began building homes in Houston, primarily custom homes in established neighborhoods.
The company has become known for its ability to deliver project elements conforming to detailed architectural specification, whether contemporary or traditional in style. This attention to detail has been noted by architects who are frequently part of the construction team. On a number of occasions, architects themselves have engaged Mealy Company Builders to build or remodel their personal residences or studios.
For each project, there is a team, allowing our clients to become as engaged to the extent they desire throughout the planning and design development. The building process is customized to the client.
The Company is one of the first builders in Houston to certify a custom home under the ICC 700-2008 National Green Building Standard, and is the first in greater Houston to certify a home at the silver performance level. This Standard is the first consensus standard on sustainable green building for residential construction that has been approved by the American National Standards Institute. A collaborative effort between the International Code Council and the National Association of Home Builders, the Standard was adopted at the national level in 2009. In 2010, the Greater Houston Builders Association replaced its earlier green initiatives with the Standard. The GHBA is an adopting entity of the ICC 700-2008 and the controlling entity of the Green Built Gulf Coast Program. Professional third party verification is required for every performance level of certification achieved under the Standard.
For one of its custom homes, the company received a Custom Home of the Year award from the Greater Houston Builders Association. The company has showcased its homes on home tours, winning Best Kitchen on one West University Place tour.
Mealy Company Builders has a history of adhering to high standards in construction. At one time, it was one of the few buildermembers of Houston’s Foundation Performance Association, primarily the domain of structural and geotechnical engineers. The Association focuses on issues posed by Houston’s problematical clay soils. With this awareness, the company from inception has regularly isolated potentially destructive soil forces using an upgraded foundation design. Now, the practice has become commonplace, particularly for high-end projects.
Mealy Company Builders adheres to the highest standards of business integrity and honest dealing. Notwithstanding recent difficult financial times for many builders, the company has maintained its creditworthiness with all of its suppliers and tradesmen. The company has never been involved in a legal action.
The company is a member of the Custom Builders Council of the Greater Houston Builders Association, the Texas Association of Builders, the National Association of Home Builders, the Foundation Performance Association of Houston, and Green Built Gulf Coast.
